Snapchat is a social messaging application through which one can capture photos, record videos, create texts and drawings and send them to list of recipients. These stuffs are termed as “Snaps”. The self portrait pictures, also known as “selfies” are very popular to share or capture via this application. 80% of its users are teenagers.
Users can also set a time limit for how long these stuffs will be visible for recipients. It is mostly from 1 to 10 seconds. After the time limit the snaps will be hidden from recipient’s device. So users can’t see those stuffs but remains in Snapchat’s main server. This application runs on both platforms, Android as well as on iOS. The basic idea of this application is mainly to connect all kind of emotions.
Snapchat was created by Reggie Brown and Evan Spiegel. It was for one of their class project in Stanford University. Later Bobby Murphy joins the project. It was first launched in the month of July, 2011 as “Picaboo”, then it was renamed as “Snapchat”.
Emily White was a C.O.O. in Snapchat Inc. From 2013 to 2015. In June, 2013, “Snapkidz” was introduced, which is the basically Snapchat for below 13 years users. On October 19, 2014 Snapchat’s first 20 second movie-trailor advertisement for the film Ouija, was shown to the world.
